Another Old Song!

This song is another from the project. This on was made on December 27th, 2006. This entire song was made using a single instrument sound, specifically the harpsichord. I happy to really love this song. It reminds me of a medieval court of some sort. I dunno, every once in a while I manage to produce a very pretty piano piece. This was one of those times.

*Note: I've had this blog entry completed for a few days, but the system I use to put my songs online was being wonky. Sorry for the delay!

Cop-out

I've been rather musically stagnant as of late. This is, admittedly, a bit distressing. I do want to keep this blog going, however. As such, for a bit, I will be supplying you with songs I made during a failed project. Early December of '06, I decided I was going to start up a project wherein I would make a song every single day. I managed to make it to January 25th without missing a single day, and honestly, the only reason I quit was because no one was listening. Anyway, until I can get back into the musical swing, you will be hearing some of my favorite products from that project (I never gave them titles, so you'll just see the date as the name).

The song for today is from January 23rd. I've mentioned before that I am a gamer. Whenever I listen to this song, it reminds me of the map music in Soul Blade (for any confused gamers out there, it was the very first game in the now popular Soul Calibur series). It had a very epic militaristic feel to it. I would actually spend hours in the game just sitting on the world map to listen to the song. I digress... here is the song:

I am so consistant with updates!

So, after much work, I have... kinda half of a song. I really like where it's going, but as of this moment, I am far too tired to finish it. Thus, you get a titled, but possibly only half finished song.

The first song I've posted that I didn't just make!

I made this song, like... hmm apparently on February 9th at 3:11 AM. I think this is a much better metal-y song. Also, this song is in 11/8, so you know it's awesome. I made this for my friend's senior project, but ended up not using it due to it being so odd (in time signature and such).

Look at this interesting title!

I made a song yesterday night. I really don't like it, but I've let someone else listen, and they did. Besides, like I said before, they can't all be winners, and you might as well hear ones I don't like. It's pretty short, and I didn't really title it. It kinda sounds like a crazy metal band from the 80's (except for the fact that there's no drums since I didn't really like where it was going). Anyway, here it is.

Hey, they can't all be winners!

Sometimes, I make songs before I'm entirely sure why I'm making it. Today's song is actually something I made yesterday for the RPG (Hindsight), however, I thought it was more of a Mausoleum in honor of a royal death, and it turns out it's supposed to be a dungeon. This song is clearly far too upbeat for a dungeon. Alas...

I love me some micromusic!

For those of you that have no idea what micromusic is, here is a handy link to wikipedia.

I happen to be rather fond of the genre. It may be due, in part, to the fact that I grew up with the second boom of video games, when Nintendo was king, and blips and bloops ruled the world. Even now, I still prefer more simplistic techno, like Happy Hardcore (Then again, I listen to some insanely complex things from time to time as well).

In case you're wondering why I'm talking about this, it's because recently, I purchased a CD. This particular CD happens to be by one Computeher (link). She makes all of her music using very "old school" equipment, such as a Commodore 64 and a Game Boy, just to name a few. If you're wondering, the CD is fantastic. Aside from the music available at that link, there are also a few videos of her available on Youtube. Enjoy!

Another new song!

Do you remember those helicopter games on the NES? The ones where you have an overhead view and, for whatever reason, the government thought it would be a great idea to have you fight an entire war alone? Sure, they gave you some humongous bombs (even if you could only hold three of them), but it still seems a little odd that they'd only use you for the mission.

"What does this have to do with anything?," you may ask. Well, the song I made today really reminds me of those kinds of games. They always had such intense, hyper music, and I always loved it. Those games are probably some of the biggest reasons I love midi music. Anyway, here you go!

My current projects

Currently, I am actually working on making midis for two or three different projects.

Project 1 - This Blog
Duration - ???

Do I really need to explain this one? I just figured this was a better venue than a lot of options I might have to get my midi music out there.

Project 2 - My friend's senior project
Duration - May 2007

I am currently making music for a friend's senior project for college under an assumed name. It's pretty complicated to explain the whole thing, and honestly, would kinda destroy the project if I did, but yeah...

Project 3 - Hindsight (An RPG)
Duration - June 15th, 2007?

My third project I'm working on right now is an RPG someone I met online is making. It currently has a completion schedule for June 15th, but considering the fact that I've only made the music for the Alpha so far, I'm honestly a little wary. This is not really a secret project, so I can provide THIS MIGHTY LINK. As far as I can tell that is the main page for the project, but it hasn't been updated to include me... or really anything since January 1st. Currently it appears the entire staff consists of me, one of his friends, and him. Like I said, June 15th? ehhhhhhh

There... I made you a song

The blog did, admittedly, feel a little empty without a song (even if just a day old), so I went ahead and made one. It's a fairly mellow song, almost sleepy, but it has a feeling of accomplishment; a feeling as if something ethereal was earned in its wake. As you may notice, I made it fairly quickly, but, as I said, I wanted to put something new onto the blog (by new, I mean something I haven't already created).

Welcome to my blog!

So... Who the hell are you?

So far, in my life, I have probably created around 15 blogs. I have also, thusfar, forgotten about 15 blogs. I've made them in various places, Blogger, Livejournal, Xanga... but, as I said, I've lost interest, generally, within a week or two. Currently, the only surviving one I can even remember how to access is my fake Livejournal.

All of this is completely irrelevant.

If you've already made 15, then why make another one?

I am creating yet another blog for one simple reason. I make midi music, and I want to share it. I'm pretty weird, so I may just overhaul the concepts behind this journal at any moment.

Why this topic and why now?

The reason I chose this particular topic and moment to create this blog is simple. I've been making my midi music pretty steadily for about 4 months, and have been interested in music and playing music for far longer. This leads me to believe that I may actually keep posting in this blog, and eventually become an internet sensation (It'll totally happen).

You keep repeating the same question.

Fuck you

Geez, sorry... What's with all the profanity? I know you in real life, and you don't actually cuss this much.

I dunno. Maybe I'm just gimmicky, but I felt like cussing a lot in this blog. Generally, I feel that cussing on the internet is completely idiotic and adds little to the context, but apparantly my mind has decided that I should cuss a lot today.

Uhm... okay... So, really, who the hell are you?

My name isn't really Xeno, but everyone calls me Xeno, so it has become my unofficial everything name. As such, at least for now, I'm Xeno. I'm 22, Male, still live at home, I'm in love with a 17 year old on the other side of the country, and I'm rather screwed up.

I'll say... so, where's all the music Mr. Midi-man?

Kiss my ass. I just started this blog like... what the hell! I haven't even posted my first blog entry yet. Geez...

I guess that was a bit premature. So, anyway, good luck with your music thing or whatever. I'm gonna go get something to eat.

Really? Where are you going?

I'm probably just going to go to my refrigerator...

Can... can I come?

Well, seeing as you're me, I suppose so.

Oh... Right.
